Follow The Directions

Step

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and ground coffee. (2 minutes)

Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture begins to boil vigorously. (8 minutes)

Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for another 10 minutes to allow the coffee flavor to fully infuse the syrup. (10 minutes)

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely. (30 minutes)

Strain the cooled syrup through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth (optional) into a clean, airtight container to remove the coffee grounds.

Store the coffee syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy in coffee, cocktails, drizzled over pancakes, or as a flavoring for baked goods.

For a richer flavor, use a dark roast coffee.
Adjust the amount of coffee to suit your taste preferences.
If you don't have cheesecloth, a very fine-mesh sieve will also work.
The syrup will thicken slightly as it cools.
